"It is an alarming situation the way law and order is worsening in Bengal. Students are being attacked inside university and college campus. Teachers are being beaten up and women are feeling unsafe in Bengal," CPI(M) state secretary and leader of opposition in Assembly Surya Kanta Mishra said.
"In most of the situation the culprits are aligned or sheltered by the ruling party. To protest against the prevailing lawless situation, the 17 Left parties will hold continuous sit-in demonstration from August 17-19 in Esplande area of Kolkata," Mishra said in a statement.
CP North Dinajpur district president was also injured in a clash with TMCP members in Raiganj University college today.
Condemning the Raiganj University clash, Mishra tweeted, "Shootout at Raiganj University is the latest misdeed of TMC, after killing student in Sabang & girl student in Ketugram. Resist en masse,".
