Entrance to the monument was made free today to enable people to visit the real graves of the royal couple, which are otherwise kept closed throughout the year in an underground chamber.
The highlight of the Urs, which commemorates the death anniversary, is the ceremonial carrying of alengthy 'chadar' to the graves, which are washed with perfumes and aromas and incense-sticks placed on them.
The 'chadar', which this year was said to be 575 metre long, was carried today in procession to the tomb by hundreds of people.
A prominent participant at the Urs for the past few years has been Prince Yakub Habibuddin Tucy of Hyderabad, who claims to be a descendant of the last Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar.
