3 dead, eight injured as RTC bus collides with truck

Three persons were killed and eight others injured when a state transport bus collided head-on with a truck near Sinnar, about 32 kms from here, on the busy Nashik-Pune Highway early this morning, police said.
"The accident took place around 5 AM when the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation's (MSRTC) 'Asiad' bus that was going from Miraj to Nashik, approached Gurewadi near Sinnar. At that point, the bus collided head-on with the truck, coming in from the opposite direction," a police officer said.
Bus driver Dattatreya Malhari Madam (50) and two passengers identified as Vaishali Vasant Pawar (30) and Manvainda Jadhav (25) died on the spot, he said.
According to the police, due to the impact the truck caught fire, in which its driver Akil Munir Sheikh and cleaner Chandrabhan Gangurde were injured.
The duo, along with eight others injured were admitted to Sinnar Rural Hospital for treatment, police added.
