Three persons have died from electrocution in different parts of the national capital in the past 48 hours, police said today.
North Delhi Power Limited lineman Ram Parvesh Roy (40), a resident of Wazirpur's JJ Colony, had just reached his office in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri to start his night shift yesterday, police said.
They said Roy had cycled his way to work but as soon as he reached, he collapsed and was rushed to a hospital. The doctors declared him "brought dead".
Police said there was a burn injury on his toe, which suggests he might have died from electrocuted but they are awaiting his post-mortem report.
In a separate incident, Partha Laskar, 23-year-old security guard at Rose Garden in Chanakyapuri, died from electrocution while trying to charge his phone yesterday.
Laskar was from Tripura and used to reside in a nearby slum area.
He was working with a private security agency that had been given a contract by the New Delhi Municipal Council for securing the garden, police said.
His shift was just about to get over when he decided to charge his phone using one of the electricity boxes.
He had been working there for the last three years and had recently got married. Investigation has been launched in the matter, police said.
