Three drug smugglers were arrested here and contraband worth Rs 1 crore in the international market was seized from them, police said today.
"The three smugglers were arrested last evening following a tip-off. They were arrested from a location near the Nepal border falling under the Rupaidiah police station. The arrested smugglers are from different parts of Bahraich and have been identified as Babu Manihar, Vasu Pathan and Sufi. Five kilograms of charas, three countrymade revolvers, cartridges and a motorcycle have been recovered from them," Superintendent of Police (SP) Sabharaj said.
He added that a case was registered against the accused under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the Arms Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
"The seized charas is worth Rs 1 crore in the international market," the SP said.
