The three fishermen, in 40-50 age group, had put out to sea in their boat along with fellow fishermen onboard 184 boats from Jegathapattinam in the district yesterday.
As the fishermen started returning today, the three were seen struggling in mid-sea, a Fisheries department official said.
The other fishermen came to their rescue and brought them ashore in their boats.
