The accused, identified as Rahul alias Jagga (23), Roop Singh (22) and Mukesh (25) were arrested yesterday by police officials of Greater Kailash-I Police Station.
The trio made threatening calls to extort money from Tarlochan Singh Virdi, a government contractor of electric work and resident of Gautam Nagar area, demanding Rs 2.5 crore from him, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) P Karunakaran said.
In another incident, a trader operating from Kalkaji and resident of GK-I, Deepak Puri received extortion call from the the three accused demanding Rs 4 crore from him, he said.
During investigations it was learnt that in both the incidents same mobile number was used by the extortionists to make the calls to the two businessmen and the mobile number was traced to one Satyabeer Singh, he said.

Singh had lost his mobile phone in Sangam Vihar area in July last year but did not make any complaint in this regard.
"Through technical surveillance, police nabbed Rahul from his house in Madangir and on sustained interrogation he confessed that he had made extortion calls along with Roop Singh. Both Rahul and Roop Singh worked with Rahul's father Kanwar Pal Singh, who is a sub-contractor of the victim Tarlochan Singh Virdi" Karunakaran said.
Police recovered a mobile phone used for making extortion calls and four live cartridges of .315 bore from Roop Singh while another SIM card and a .315 bore country-made pistol was recovered from Rahul.
Further probe is on to ascertain if the accused were involved in other cases of extortion or robbery, they said.
