A sophisticated pistol made in Turkey with eight live cartridges worth Rs five lakh was recovered from one of the accused, police said.
A police team comprising Rohit Rajbir Singh, an under- training IPS, was on patrolling duty near Iskcon Temple when it spotted a white Scorpio heading towards Garhi Gaon.
As the three occupants of the vehicle were found to be suspicious, one of the constables signalled the vehicle to stop. The driver, however, sped away, said Romil Baaniya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast district).
One Ravi Gangwal, 30, brandished a pistol and threatened the police. However, the accused were overpowered.
Gangwal's accomplices were identified as Sunny alias Arun Sharma and Nakul alias Rohit.
Gangwal was involved in 10 criminal cases including those of murder and attempt to murder.
