3-member SIT set up to probe Ropar mishap case

Punjab government today formed a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the Ropar accident in which a scooterist was killed after being hit by a bus allegedly owned by Badal family.
The SIT will give its report in a week, Punjab DGP S S Saini said here.
The three-member SIT comprises senior IPS officers, R K Jaiswal, G Nageshwara Rao and I P S Sahota.
Yesterday, Swaran Singh (40) of Behrampur Zimidara village was knocked down and dragged along allegedly by the bus of Dabwali Transport company owned by ruling Badal family on Kurali-Ropar road killing him on the spot.
The DGP said that according to police investigation, "It's a clear accident between scooter and a car."
Punjab FSL report stated that the car's wind screen broke as the scooterist fell on its bonnet.

"There is a dent on car at 80 cm. Also paint flakes transferred to each other. Dents match point to point on both car and scooter", he said.
Central Forensic team Chandigarh has also gone to Ropar to do a parallel examination, he said.
Meanwhile, a 13 members action committee constituted on behalf of protesters after negotiation with administration lifted the blockade on the Ropar-Chandigarh National Highway.
The Family of the deceased Swaran Singh had demanded a compensation of Rs 25 lakh, government job for Singh's Son and free education of his daughter.
The bus had been taken to police custody, and the driver and conductor had joined the investigation, police said.
The postmortem of the body will be done tomorrow and cremation of Swran Singh will take place at his native Beharampur village.
