He said Deputy Commissioner Angrez Singh Rana constituted the team and directed it to submit a detailed report to the directorate of health services for framing a strategic policy to avoid and deal effectively with such epidemics in the future.
The team was constituted three days after Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti expressed concern over reports of prevalence of hepatitis in some areas of Wadwan and directed a team of doctors to visit the affected area.
The spokesperson said the epidemic control team, comprising state epidemiologist J P Singh, physician specialist in CMO office V K Pandita and Medical Officer Arif, have been asked to visit the affected areas of Warwan within two days and take necessary steps to control the disease.
Laboratory Assistant District Hospital Ashwani Kumar would accompany the team, he said.
