Three Maoists, carrying cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on their heads, today surrendered in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Kondagaon district, police said.
They turned themselves in citing disappointment with the exploitation of local cadres by senior leaders from Andhra Pradesh.
The surrendered rebels were working as members of Kiskodo Local Operation Squad (LOS), a senior police official told PTI.
Owing to security reasons, their identities were not disclosed.
The cadres were in close contact with high rung members of the banned outfit and allegedly involved in series of incidents, including attack on police personnel, arson, loot, damaging school buildings and other serious offenses, the official said.
In their statement, the surrendered ultras had alleged that senior cadres from Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra carried out bloodbath in Chhattisgarh and surrendered in their respective states in lure of money but they prevented cadres belonging to Chhattisgarh from doing the same, he said.
Besides, they also alleged that lower rank cadres were subjected to exploitation by senior members, the official added.
The official further said necessary assistance will be provided to them as per the government policy.
