"Ersad Mali (25) and his brother Ijajul Mali (30) died on the spot. Ersad was taking his six-year-old daughter to a local hospital on a van-rickshaw. The truck hit them when they reached near Panighata Bridge," Superintendent of Police Sabyasachi Raman Mishra said.
The rickshaw puller Fajai Sheikh (35) was declared brought dead when taken to nearby Shaktinagar Hospital here, Mishra said.
The girl was admitted to Shaktinagar hospital with serious injury, the police said.
The deceased were residents of Jirat Malipara in North 24 Parganas district and belonged to a snake charmer's community, sources said.
The driver fled with the truck after the accident, sources said.
