3 policemen suspended for cremating missing Manipuri man'sbody

Two sub-inspectors and a constable have been suspended for negligence in duty after they allegedly got cremated the body of a missing student from Manipur claiming it to be unidentified, police said today.
SSP Love Kumar suspended Sub-Inspector Kishori Raman and Constable Sanjeev Kumar of Knowledge Park police station, and Nithari police chowki in-charge Sub-Inspector Rakesh Babu, they said.
Pravish Chanam (22), a student from Manipur, had gone missing from a concert in Greater Noida on September 8, the police said, adding a missing person's report was filed on September 9 on one Ravi Kant's complaintat Knowledge Park police station.
Later, an unidentified body was found at Nithari village. The body was cremated three days after it was recovered claiming that it was unidentified, they said, adding the body was identified as of Chanam.
Following which Chanam's family accused police of negligence.
Further details are awaited in the matter.
