3 Punjab govt officials in vigilance trap

Punjab vigilance bureau sleuths today arrested three government officials for allegedly accepting bribe in separate incidents in the state.
"In its anti-corruption campaign, the vigilance bureau laid traps in different parts of the state and caught the culprits red-handed with the bribe money," a spokesman said.
A trap was laid by Gurdaspur vigilance unit team at Batala, where Junior Engineer Kulwinder Singh was nabbed with bribe money of Rs 15,000.
Kulwinder, who was posted as JE at Powercom North at Batala was demanding illegal gratification of Rs 15,000 from the complainant of Khan Fatta village to install already approved transformer in his fields, the spokesman said.
In second such incident, the team of Bathinda vigilance unit apprehended Veer Chand, an accountant in market committee, Kotakpura, red-handed with the Rs 10,000 bribe money.
He was arrested following a complaint by a resident of Kotakpura, who alleged that Veer was demanding Rs 20,000 to verify a form and the deal was matured for Rs 10,000.
In another case, the vigilance unit of Moga nabbed Chhinder Singh, Dairy Development Inspector posted at Dairy Development Office at Gill village of the district with bribe money Rs 8,000.
A complainant had alleged that Inspector Chhinder Singh was demanding Rs 20,000 to clear the objection on his file pertaining to subsidy of Insurance policy of cows.
