A group of three unidentified men fired over a dozen rounds on a car of a property dealer in a bid to extort money from him in Sector 31 area, police said.
The incident took place around 10.30 AM. The attackers also left a letter, demanding Rs 60 lakh payment as extortion, they said.
According to the police, three attackers came on a car around 11.15 AM and they called the victim, identified as Manish Khattar, to come outside his house.
"The accused, in a bid to threaten Khattar, fired several rounds on his car. They threatened him to pay the amount otherwise they would kill him, Sudhir Kumar, SHO of sector 40 police station, said.
An FIR has been registered in this matter and the police was examining the extortion letter, he said.
"Police is also looking for clues in the adjacent vicinities to get some leads, the official added.
