3-year-old raped in Delhi

A 3-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man in South Delhi, police said today.
The incident took place around 7 PM yesterday when the girl was playing outside the night shelter her family is living in. The accused took the girl to an isolated place on the pretext of buying her sweets and then raped her, said a police official.
The accused, employed as a driver by a private firm, hails from Bihar and was putting up in a night shelter adjacent to the one where the girl's family resides.
The girl's family members alerted the police when the toddler didn't return til 10 pm.

"Later, the minor was found in the forest area near Mehrauli and taken to AIIMS trauma center, where her condition is stated to be critical," the official said.
Police have registered a case under Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the Mehrauli Police Station and arrested the accused, he added.
