31 ill in Cooch Behar Hospital, medical board formed

Thirty-one patients at MJN Hospital's Maternity Ward in Cooch Behar district today fell ill allegedly after being administered injections.
Confirming that 31 female patients have shown symptoms like that of convulsions, headache and fever, Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH), Cooch Behar, Sumit Ganguli said a medical board has been formed to look in to the matter.
The board will examine the cause behind the incident, he said adding the patients were administered their regular dose of injection this morning.
However, the patients' relatives have alleged the injections administered were not checked by nurses on duty.
