31-year-old man dies as couple immolates self in Punjab

A 31-year-old man today died while a woman was critically injured after the couple allegedly self-immolated themselves here following their parents' disapproval over marriage, police said.
Rajnish, hailing from Jhajjar in Haryana, was declared brought dead while Sunita (24) was admitted to civil hospital, police said.
The woman's condition, who sustained 98 per cent burn injuries, was stated to be critical, they said.
The deceased met Sunita at her house at Jugial area here where they both set themselves on fire after pouring petrol, police said.
A suicide note was recovered from the site in which the couple mentioned that they were in love with each other but their parents were against their marriage, Pathankot Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rakesh Kaushal said, adding investgation is underway.
