"The MP government today suspended Dr R S Palod, under whose guidance the camp was organised, assistant Pradeep Chouksey and staff nurses Leela Verma, Maya Chouhan, Vinita Chouksey and Shabana Mansuri," government spokesman Ashok Manwani said.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also announced that his government would reimburse all expenses to be incurred by the patients in their treatment.
The 32 patients had undergone cataract surgery at the camp organised by Andhatva Nivaran (blindness eradication) Committee of Barwani district hospital between November 16 and 21.
The matter came to the light after they complained of inflammation, itching and low vision after the surgery, and were referred to government M Y hospital and private Aurobindo hospital in Indore, Dr Pandit said.
"The patients complained that they were unable to see anything after their cataract operation," he said.
According to Dr Pandit, five patients are presently undergoing treatment in M Y Hospital, while the remaining ones were admitted to a private hospital.
