34 CISF personnel awarded President's Medals on Republic Day

Thirty-four CISF personnel were decorated today with the Presidents Police Medals for distinguished and meritorious service on the eve of the Republic Day.
Among the six awardees under the distinguished medals category includes Inspector General (IG) Anant Kumar Singh, who has also been decorated with the police medal for gallantry in 2009, for leading an operation that unearthed a Naxals' weapons making factory in Bhopal.
The 1994-batch Madhya Pradesh cadre officer, currently posted at the headquarters here as IG (Personnel), has also been decorated with the President's Police Medal for meritorious service in 2009 and apart from being the Superintendent of Police of various districts in the state, he has worked as the AIG of police modernisation in Bhopal.
Among the awardees in the meritorious medals list include Senior Commandant S D Dobhal.
The 1989-batch officer has earlier served in the army and has rendered his services at various locations of the force including heading the unit that was posted to guard NALCO's facility in Odisha's Damanjodi where 11 CISF personnel were killed after heavily-armed Naxals attacked it in 2009.
The Central Industrial Security Force is tasked to secure vital installations in the country including civil airports and facilities in the nuclear and aerospace domain.
