This was the finding of a study undertaken by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and Acton Aid India organisation, the minister said, replying to a query by Shiv Sena MLC Deepak Sawant and others.
It was also found that 905 kids live in train compartments, the minister said.
A special task force has been set up under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to bring these children into the social mainstream, she said.
