Besides the regular training of 38 weeks, the 365 cadets were given training in counter-insurgency, anti-terrorism, commando operations, field engineering, field craft and minor tactics.

The recruits included 3 post-graduates and 113 graduates.

The parade was attended by Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports and Medical Education R S Chib.

Addressing the recruits, Chib said the BSF has always played a big role at the International Border and has helped in maintaining law and order in the country whenever required.

The Minister said BSF deserves special appreciation for giving a new direction to the "mis-guided" youth who were misled by the neighbouring country, by inducting them into the force.

About 2000 local youth, including surrendered militants, were among the 12,981 recruits trained at the centre.

The centre was established on June 10, 1990, to impart basic training to recruits and cater to the training needs of the force in Kashmir.
