"Justice Paresh Upadhyaya of the Gujarat High Court was diagnosed with dengue on Friday and since then he has been hospitalised here," Civil Hospital's Medical Superintendent M M Prabhakar said.
Justice Upadhyaya's condition has been improving gradually and he is likely to be discharged from the hospital soon, he said.
According to a statement issued by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the city reported 37 cases of dengue in the first week of August, while the figure reached 327 since January this year.
2,213 cases of malaria and 213 cases of falcipuram-caused malaria were reported in the city from January to August 8, this year, it further said.
AMC's Health Officer Bhavik Solanki said the civic body will compile data of dengue cases during the second week of this month tomorrow which would give the exact number of the mosquito-borne disease cases.
During this month, AMC sealed around 16 construction sites here and imposed a fine of around Rs 58,000 on the owners of the sites where mosquito-breeding was found, the statement added.
