Over the past few years, MICF has created a renowned platform for budding Indian comics to showcase their talent at the MIFC Raw comedy festival which judges comics from across four cities - Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Delhi.
This year is not just about picking up the best comic talent from India, but also enjoying seasoned performances straight from the Australian comedy festival with addition of 'MICF Roadshow', with top international comedians - Ronny Chieng, Kate Mclennan, Elbowskin, Nish Kumar and David Williams performing in all four cities along with judging Raw Comedy Season 3.
Australian funny lady who has a kitty of award-winning shows, Kate Mclennan, says that each of the cities they toured for Raw Comedy presented a unique style and diversity.
"Each city has its own distinct style, audiences in Mumbai loves to see its own diversity reflected back at them. Naturally all the tech and computer related humour went down quite well in Bangalore, whereas Kolkata had more of a creative bent to their humour," says Kate.
"There's quite a lot of the male comedians who are doing material about their ugly girlfriends, which I don't believe for a second because every Indian lady I've seen on this trip is stunning! What are these guys talking about? I wonder if they have girlfriends at all!," says Mclennan about the trope of jokes she encountered while judging.
