4,500 saris seized from truck; purchase receipt on Prajapati's

A truckload of saris, said to have been purchased in the name of Uttar Pradesh minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, were seized here this evening, police said.
Police during a routine checking stopped a mini-truck which was on its way to Kanpur from Amethi in Hussainganj police station area and found it to be carrying around 4,500 saris, police said.
When asked, the driver furnished a receipt in the name of state minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, they said, adding the mobile number mentioned in the receipt has not been traced yet.
A case has been lodged and the matter is being probed, they added.

The minister could not be contacted for his response.
