The team from Andhra Pradesh police had come to the city to investigate a robbery in Vishakhapatnam, but ended up striking a deal with an accused, ACB officials said.
Around 1.5 kg of gold and Rs 1,20,000 in cash were seized from the hotel where the Andhra Pradesh police officials were lodged, the officials said.
The arrested officials include Inspector RVRK Choudhary of Crime Branch (Vishakhapatnam), SubInspector S K Sharif, SubInspector Gopal Rao and Constable H Hariprasad, they said.
"But, they asked for a bribe of Rs 1.40 lakh from Ram Niwas to acquit him of the charges," Soni said, adding Niwas then lodged a complaint with the ACB.
According to Soni, the policemen had previously taken Rs 60,000 from Niwas and were to receive another Rs 80,000 at a restaurant in the Boranad area here.
Following the verification of the complaint, a trap was laid and all the four police personnel were arrested red- handed this morning, the DSP said.
