4 arrested with fake Army appointment letters

Four youths were arrested after they arrived here to join the Army carrying fake appointment letters, police said.
A complaint in this regard was filed by Subedar Kaansingh Rajput of Mahar Regiment at the Cantonment Police Station here.
The accused were identified as Mukesh Kumar (21), Mandeep Singh (20), both from Rajasthan, Ajay Rajput (20) and Lokesh Kumar, both from Haryana, police said.
During the preliminary probe they told police that they had paid Rs five lakh each to a person who provided them with these "appointment papers", police station in-charge B M Dwivedi said.
They also revelead that four of their relatives had gone to Bengaluru and Pune and about a dozen others to Kamti cantonment in Nagpur to join the Army carrying similar "appointment letters", he said.
While a case of cheating, forgery has been registered against them, police and the Army authorities are conducting further probe, Dwivedi said.
The four accused were produced before the Judicial Magistrate Manish Sharma, who sent them in police custody for five days, he said.
