With the arrest of four people, police on Tuesday busted a gang of auto-lifters operating in the National Capital Region (NCR) and recovered six stolen two-wheelers from their possession, an official said.

The accused persons were arrested by the police in Sector 58 area of the city during a checking, he said.

Acting on a tip-off about the movement of suspected auto-lifters, the police had conducted a security check in the area. The four men were intercepted and questioned, leading to the recovery of the stolen vehicles," the official said.

Those arrested were identified as Sushil Singh and Ayub, both from Ghaziabad, Bhola Yadav from Noida, and Aslam, who hails from Bareilly, the official said.

"During probe, they admitted to their involvement in auto-lifting and said they operated in NCR and used to sell the stolen vehicles for cheap prices," the policeman said.

He said five motorcycles and one scooter were recovered from the accused persons, while each of them was carrying a knife when they were held.
