4 dacoity accused get 3 days' police remand

A local court today remanded four arrested persons to police custody in connection with a bank dacoity earlier this month in East Midnapore district.
The Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate's court, Contai, awarded three days' police remand to Santosh Kumar Das, Sashikanta Mohanty, Sk Azad and Sk Saifulla.
The four accused, who were arrested in Balasore district in neighbouring Odisha, in connection with a bank dacoity under Egra police station in East Midnapur district.
The public prosecutor said possession of arms and dacoity charges were levelled agains them.
The government counsel submitted to the court that Rs 23.81 lakh in cash, two fire-arms and six mobiles were seized from the four, believed to be part of an inter-state gang during the raid by Odisha police with help by Bengal counterparts, and they needed to be interrogated further.
The four were also suspected to be involved in a bank dacoity case in West Midnapore earlier this month, police said.
