The four-day celebrations to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Sikh faith founder Guru Nanak Dev concluded here on Monday.

Large number of Sikh devotees from across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and adjoining areas participated in the event, which started on October 18.

During the ceremony, religious scholars of Sikh community highlighted the teachings of the Sikh spiritual leader. The participants vowed to follow Nanak's teachings in their daily life.

Ranjeet Singh, the first Sikh lawmaker in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was the chief guest of the main event.

Singh assured the community members that he would raise in Assembly the issue of non-availability of gurdwara and cremation ground for Sikhs in the area.

"The KP government has the moral and religious obligation to provide basic rights to the minorities," he said.

Pakistan will open the much-awaited Kartarpur Corridor on November 9, ahead of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak on November 12.

The proposed corridor will connect Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur with Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur district of Punjab and facilitate visa-free movement of Indian pilgrims, who will have to just obtain a permit to visit Kartarpur Sahib, which was established in 1522 by Guru Nanak Dev.

Pakistan is building the corridor from the Indian border to the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, while the other part from Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab's Gurdaspur district up to the border will be constructed by India.
