4 dead, several others ill after consuming spurious liquor

Four persons died and several fell ill after consuming spurious liquor in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh, following which seven excise and police officials have been suspended and an SP was transferred.
Vinod, Prithvipal, Kallu and Hanuman, aged between 35 to 60 years, died and several others were admitted to a hospital after consuming spurious liquor last night in Karovan area of Unnao, police said.
Taking note of the incident, the UP government transferred SP of Unnao Mahendra Pal Singh and attached him to DGP office. SP of Chitrakoot Pawan Kumar has been made the new SP of Unnao.
The state government also announced a compensation of Rs two lakh to the kin of the deceased.

SHO, city police station Parashuram Tripathi, district excise officer Phulchandra Pal, excise inspector Ajay Kumar and four policemen were suspended for dereliction of duty.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has directed the officials to conduct drive to check the sale of spurious liquor and arrest those involved in it.
