4 from UP perished in Uttarakhand chopper crash

Two IAF personnel were among four persons from Uttar Pradesh who were killed in the helicopter crash during a rescue mission in flood-devastated Uttarakhand, a top state government officer said today.
Secretary (Home) Sarvesh Chandra Mishra said two IAF personnel, an ITBP jawan and one from the National Disaster Response Force, all hailing from UP, perished in the crash yesterday.
The four were Junior Warrant Officer Akhilesh Kumar Singh from Amethi, Sergeant Sudhakar Yadav from Sant Kabir Nagar, both IAF personnel, ITBP jawan Sarvesh Kumar, hailing from Jhansi, and Ballia resident Sanjeev Kumar of the NDRF, he said.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav announced financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh each to the bereaved families of the two IAF personnel.
Asked about the financial assistance to the kin of two others, the Home Secretary told reporters that any decision in this regard would be taken by the Chief Minister.
Reports from Amethi said the JWO was cremated with full state honours at his native place in Jagdishpur.
A large number of people bade a tearful adieu to Singh whose mortal remains arrived at Fursatganj airport by a special plane.
