4 govt officials arrested by Lokayukta police on pvt complaint

Deputy Commissioner, Bangalore Rural District M K Ayappa and three other government officials were arrested by Lokayukta police today on a private complaint alleging illegal acquisition of government land through forged revenue documents.
Besides Ayappa, the others arrested are K Gopalaswamy, Special Tahsildar, North Additional Taluk Yelahanka, N Balakrishnamurhty, Revenue Inspector Hesaraghatta Hobli, North Additional Taluk and K V Ravikumar, Sub Registrar, Hesaraghatta Sub-Registrar's office, Bangalore.
The Lokayukta court, acting on a private complaint by a farmer P Anil Kumar and two others from Maddapanahalli village last year, had ordered a probe on November 5, last year based on which a criminal case was registered.
During investigation, the charges of fabrication of documents, misuse of official power in order to transfer 32 acres of government land in the village in Bangalore North Taluk to a person and its subsequent sale to another accused for Rs seven crore were prima facie proved, sources said.
All the four were later produced before the Lokayukta court and remanded to custody of Lokayukta police till 5 PM tomorrow.
The 11 others accused in the complaint filed on October 9 last year include BJP MLA from Yelahanka assembly constituency S R Vishwanath.
