4 held for burglary attempt

"Sadiq and Zahid, both 18-years-old, Kamre Alam, 22, and a juvenile, were apprehended from Trinagar on specific inputs and the bank burglary case was cracked," said Sindhu Pillai, DCP North district.

Police also recovered the stolen locker keys and a grill- cutting instrument from them.

Pillai said that on September 29 the four had entered the Inderlok branch of State Bank of India through ventilation grill after cutting it to ransack the bank. They also tried to break open the ATM to take out the money but failed," the official said.

During interrogation, Zahid said he was a student of School of Open Learning of Delhi University but was addicted to alcohol.

He said he, along with Kamre, Alam, Sadik and a juvenile, planned to commit theft in SBI at Inderlok. They met at a temple near Gupta Complex and the juvenile was asked to keep a watch near Nalah while others cut the grill of ventilator.

They entered the bank and tried to open the lockers but failed. They then tried to open the ATM but failed and all of them came out of the bank empty-handed, the official said.
