Four persons were arrested in connection with the killing of a person during clashes in Birbhum district on Monday over the filing of fresh nominations for panchayat elections, police said today.
All of them were arrested on yesterday, they said.
The four were arrested for the purpose of investigation, the Superintendent of Police of Birbhum district, N Sudheer Kumar, said.
They were produced before a local court here today and remanded to seven days' police custody, a police officer said.
In a named FIR, the victim's father had accused a local BJP leader of being involved in the incident.
The accused leader also received a bullet injury during the violence and was admitted to a hospital.
The BJP leader's mother, in a counter-complaint had named eight persons who allegedly attacked BJP workers.

So far nobody mentioned in her complaint have been arrested, police sources said.
Violence erupted at Suri in Birbhum district on April 23 over the filing of fresh nominations for panchayat elections in West Bengal, in which one person was killed and a few others were injured.
Both the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP had claimed that the person killed was their worker.
