Four people, including two children, were killed on the spot and two others injured when the autorickshaw in which they were travelling was hit by an oil tanker near here this evening, police said.
A 70-year old woman and the autorickshaw driver were the other killed in the mishap, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravi Varma told PTI.
The injured had been hospitalised and their condition was stated to be critical, police said.
The tanker driver had been arrested, they added.
Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister N Chinnarajappa directed the district administration to ensure proper treatment to the injured.
He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members, officials said.
