4 killed, 33 injured in mishap in HP

Four persons, including two women, were killed and 33 others injured today when a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus rolled 40 mts down Diyarighat on Shimla-Kalka national highway, 17-km from here.
Three persons died on the spot while one succumbed to his injuries at Indira Gandhi medical college (IGMC) Hospital here this evening, SP Solan Ramesh Chhajta told PTI.
Twenty persons were admitted to IGMC while eleven persons were admitted to Zonal Hospital at Solan and two seriously injured persons have been referred to PGI Chandigarh, he said.
The cause of accident is not known but witnesses said that the accident reportedly took place when the bus driver lost control while overtaking another vehicle.
The ill-fated bus carrying about 40 persons was on its way from Solan to Shimla.
Transport Minister G S Bali visited the accident site to supervise relief and rescue operations and also met the injured persons in the hospital.
Governor Urmila Singh and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh expressed grief over the accident and directed the district administration to provide relief to the victims.
