The work on four-laning of the 40-km highway stretch between Parwanoo and Solan in Himachal Pradesh will be accomplished within the next six to eight months as the bottlenecks have been removed, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari informed Rajya Sabha on Monday.
Replying to supplementaries during the Question Hour, the minister said the project was being undertaken at a cost of Rs 750 crore and almost 75 per cent of the work was completed.
"I want to say the work on the highway would be accomplished within the next six to eight months as there were certain delays in the project that have now been removed. 75 per cent work has been done and we would complete the work soon," he told the house.
He said the time taken in acquisition of land, including under defence, and some legal issues delayed the project.
He said "defence land is a big problem" and noted that the National Green Tribunal has stayed cutting of trees.
