Punjab government today dismissed four Medical Officers (MOs) from services on charges of long absenteeism, insubordination and leaving station without permission from the authorities concerned.
"The dismissal orders with immediate effect have been sent to the Punjab Public Service Commission for further action," an official spokesman said here.
The four MOs are Dr Jagdeep Singh, Dr Vikas Gupta, Dr Geetika Verma and Dr Jagpal Singh.
"They have been dismissed from service on charges of long absenteeism, insubordination and leaving station without permission of the authorities concerned," he said.
The decision to this effect was taken after receiving reports from four different committees constituted by the government, the spokesman said.
"The health department initiated the departmental probe against the erring Medical Officers and found the allegations levelled against them to be in line with the findings of the investigating officers," he said.
All the four Medical Officers were given time to put forth their version which they failed to do and did not appear before the committee in spite of repeated reminders sent to them, the spokesman said.
