The 13th Assam Rifles personnel were patrolling at the Kameng Ching area, when they were fired upon by militants prompting the security personnel to retaliate, the officer said.
Four militants were killed in the firing which went on for some 30 minutes.
The bodies were brought to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and hospital for identification.
