The carcass was found near the estate workers' quarters by some villagers, who informed forest officials.
The veterinarian, who conducted the post-mortem, found deep injuries on one leg due to which the animal could not move to search for prey, possibly for the last eight days, which was the main reason for its death, sources said.
Meanwhile, a herd of six elephants destroyed a banana farm at Bidurukadu, the sources said, adding, officials are taking steps to scare away the herd.
