4-yr old hit by candidate's convoy
Press Trust of India Jhargram (WB) A four-year old child was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle, which was part of the convoy of the Trinamool Congress candidate from Jhargram Lok Sabha seat, at Pirdhobasol area under the constituency in West Midnapore district.
Police said local people blocked the road in protest against the incident alleging the 11-vehicle convoy of the candidate Dr Uma Soren did not take the injured child to hospital.
The boy was referred to a Kolkata hospital from Midnapore Medical College where he was rushed by local people including the party supporters.
The convoy, which was on the way from Rohini to Dahir Chowk, was accompanied by a local band.
Trinamool sources said the boy was accidentally hit while standing on roadside as the convoy was passing by at high speed.
