Houses will be constructed for the economically weaker section (EWS) and low-income group (LIG) families in the upcoming new capital township - Naya Raipur- under the 'Chief Minister Naya Raipur Housing Scheme'.
The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of Housing and Environment Department chaired by Chief Minister Raman Singh at Mantralaya last evening, an official statement said today.
"Under the scheme, LIG houses worth Rs 7 lakh will be available at Rs 6 lakh only and EWS houses worth Rs 5.5 lakh at Rs 4 lakh only," the Chief Minister said in the meeting.
For the purpose, Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) will provide plots to the Housing Board at a nominal rate of Re 1 per sq ft under the scheme meant for year 2015 only, it said.

Under the scheme, subsidy has been increased from Rs 80,000 to Rs 1 lakh for EWS houses while for LIG, it has been hiked from Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000.
Singh directed officials that the quality of construction should be up to the mark and to minimise the construction cost, negotiations should be done with cement and steel companies.
Besides, the Board will also construct toilets in 100 girls' schools under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Housing and Environment Minister Rajesh Moonat and other senior officials also attended the meeting.
