The prosecution case was that Ramachandran married Paramehwari in 2011 and was constantly harassing her to bring more dowry. Unable to bear it, she jumped to her death from a nearby dam on Februry 24, 2012.
Judge M Sarvamangala, who delivered the verdict, also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on the man, failing which he would have to undergo one year imprisonment.
