"At least 40 personnel stying in the barracks have been affected by jaundice. While five of them have been cured and joined duty, 35 others are on leave," said Commissioner of Police R P Sharma.
Sharma, a doctor turned IPS officer, said the cops got infected due to contaminated water. While the police barracks have an accommodation capacity of 350 personnel, about 1,000 used to stay in the building having about 30 toilets.
"A team of doctors is inspecting the situation in the police barracks and taking required measures to stop spread of the disease," said Public Health director Kailash Dash.
