40 sovereigns gold ornaments, Rs 10,000 cash stolen from house

: Forty sovereigns of gold ornaments and 10,000 in cash were stolen from a house at Singanallur area early this morning after the burglars sprayed a chemcical on four sleeping women inmates, rendering them unconscious, police said.
The miscreants gained entry after breaking open the front door lock while the inmates were asleep.They reportedly sprayed some chemicals on the faces of the four women, which made them unconscious and fled with the booty.
The woman house owner regained consciousness around 7.30 AM, found the almirah broke open and the valuables missing, police said.
Her husband works in Chennai.
