Around 400 people from Maharashtra were rescued from earthquake-hit Nepal in the last four days and the state government had established contact with all the persons from Maharashtra who were missing in the Himalayan nation except one, an official said here.
"Till 2pm today, about 400 people from the state have returned to Delhi and have informed of their return to the Maharashtra Sadan.
However, as per the information received from Maharashtra Sadan and some districts, a majority of people have come back to the country as commercial flights are now operating and roads have also opened up. So (some) people have reached or (are) reaching their home towns without informing the state authorities," an official from the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's office told PTI.
"There is one person with whom the state is yet to establish contact," he added.
"Information has also been received about a person named Harish Mane who had gone to Nepal from Solapur. He died there. However, it has been confirmed by his tour operator that he died of liver failure and not during the earthquake," he said.
An emergency meeting was held today on what additional steps can be taken to help the relief operations in Nepal.
"The meeting was attended by secretaries of relevant departments like the Relief and Rehabilitation, Public Health, Medical Education and Finance," the official said.
The Public Health department has already dispatched two teams of doctors to Delhi which would travel to Nepal to take part in relief efforts. "Some essential medical supplies have also been sent with these teams," the official said.
