42-yr-old woman arrested for theft

A 42-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly stealing silver ornaments from a jeweller's shop in Dharuhera market here in January.
Chirya Devi, along with her daughter, had allegedly stolen silver ornaments from jeweller Kamal Singh's shop on January 28 in the main market at Dharuhera, police said today.
A complaint of theft was filed by Kamal Singh's son Uttam Singh on March 1, following which a case was registered against the mother-daughter duo, police said.
The two were arrested today and ornaments from recovered from them, they said, adding, the woman was yesterday produced in a local court which remanded her to one-day police custody.
Uttam Singh, in his complaint, had alleged that on January 28 when he was running the shop in the absence of his father, a middle-aged woman, along with her daughter, came to the shop and sent him away to call Kamal Singh as they wanted to get a chain manufactured.
When Uttam arrived with his father, the two women, who had pocketed ornaments from the shop during the interval, left the spot hurriedly on the pretext of shopping, police said, quoting the complaint.
Efforts were on to apprehend Chirya's daughter as well, police said.
