These villages have been equipped with all modern amenities, required for growth and development, he said during a regional conference of Ministers of Social welfare of Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttrakhand, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh at Chandigarh.
Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot lauded the achievements of the Himachal Pradesh government for successfully implementing 'Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana' and benefitting residents of 44 villages by transforming these villages into 'Adarsh Villages', he was quoted as saying in a statement here.
He said social welfare has always been the top priority of the state government and it has launched 'Mukhya Mantri Adrash Gram Yojna' in villages having scheduled caste population of more than 40 per cent.
Two villages in each constituency are included every year to award benefit to maximum persons under this scheme, the Minister said.
