Forty five Indian workers are languishing in a labour camp near Jeddah in Saudi Arabia without being paid for months, prompting the Indian mission here to raise the issue with authorities for its resolution.
"We have been in talks with the sponsoring company which is arranging for their final exit from Saudi Arabia. We are trying our best and by next week or the first week of December, the matter should be resolved," Consul (Community) in Jeddah Raj Kumar told PTI.
"We are in touch with the workers and the company. Currently, we have made arrangements for providing workers with food near their camp," he said.
The contracting company which brought the workers to Saudi Arabia lent them to a construction firm which has not paid them salaries since July, the Saudi Gazette reported.
The workers have lodged a complaint with the labour court, which resulted in the final exit of seven of their co-workers from the country.
The remaining workers, who are without residency permits, want to go on final exit but are caught between their sponsor company and the one for which they were involved in a construction project, the report said.

"I want to send them on final exit and want to make final settlements," the owner of the Dammam-based Sejong Saudi (Korean) Contracting Construction Company, which brought the workers here, was quoted as saying.
However, the alleged handler of the workers in Jeddah, the project engineer of the construction company, denied he has anything to do with the problem.
On October 21, Vice Consul (Labour) Anup Singh and official Mohammad Iqbal K P visited the camp to meet the workers, the report said.
